Amid a deepening feud inside the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, President Donald Trump has targeted one of his most loyal supporters, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, bestowing on her a new nickname: Marjorie “Traitor” Greene.

The congresswoman stated on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday that due to the president’s “rhetoric and commentary,” she has been facing “a hot bed of threats” from individuals “being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world.” This public rupture between Trump and Greene, a Republican from Georgia, signifies a rare and major fissure within the MAGA landscape.

Greene has traditionally been one of Trump’s most prominent surrogates, but recently she has been one of the GOP's most vocal internal dissenters, particularly on foreign policy and the Jeffrey Epstein files, signing a petition to force a vote on their release.

The president’s attacks escalated on Saturday. “Marjorie “Traitor” Green [sic] is a disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY!” Trump posted on Truth Social, misspelling her last name. In an earlier post, he referred to her last name as “Brown,” writing, "(Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!)” and declared she has “betrayed the entire Republican Party.” This followed a Friday announcement where he declared he is “withdrawing my support and Endorsement” for her 2026 campaign, adding, “all I see 'Wacky' Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!”

As the feud escalated on Friday, Greene posted on X that the president "attacked me and lied about me," alleging he is trying to "make an example" of her before the Epstein files vote. In a Saturday update, Greene wrote that she is “being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety” and called his aggression “completely shocking.”

The dispute over the Epstein files has been a key flashpoint. Earlier in the week, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee publicized three emails in which Epstein discussed Trump, leading to renewed scrutiny. Trump has consistently denied any knowledge of Epstein's criminal activities, and his allies have called the release a "smear" campaign.

Greene and three other Republicans joined all Democrats in signing a petition to force a vote on releasing the files. Reactions to the feud have been swift. Conservative activist Laura Loomer celebrated Trump adopting her "Marjorie Traitor Greene" nickname, while Greene's daughter, Lauren, asked for prayers for her mom's safety. Commentator Nick Fuentes suggested the “America First Movement is the future,” while Representative Matt Gaetz urged unity, stating, “I won’t be baited into attacking friends.”

Democrats also weighed in, with Representative Jasmine Crockett tweeting, "I told you not to trust him," and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries posting, "Marjorie Taylor Greene is crushing Donald Trump right now." Representative Thomas Massie, who is leading the petition, focused on the upcoming vote, asking, “How will your Representative vote?”

Looking ahead, House Speaker Mike Johnson has stated that representatives will vote next week on a bill that would require the Justice Department to release all files related to the investigation into Epstein and his associates.
