Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker isn’t backing down. As protests continue to sweep through Chicago over the presence of federal agents, the Democratic governor is openly daring Donald Trump to make good on a fiery social media threat.

Earlier Wednesday, Trump posted on his platform demanding that Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson be “put in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers (sic)!” The former president—who was recently convicted on 34 felony counts in New York—was reacting to reports that Department of Homeland Security agents had faced threats in Chicago.

Pritzker, appearing on MSNBC with Jacob Soboroff, didn’t hold back.

“Let’s start with the fact that this is a convicted felon,” he said. “Think about that—who’s threatening to jail me? The man’s unhinged, insecure, a wannabe dictator.”

Then came the challenge: “If you come for my people, you come through me. So come and get me.”

No charges have been filed against either Pritzker or Johnson, making Trump’s demand more a show of political bravado than a real legal move. Still, the exchange has further inflamed tensions between the two camps.

When Soboroff asked if he believed Trump might actually act on his words, Pritzker fired back with a jab.

“You know the phrase, ‘Trump Always Chickens Out’—TACO,” he said with a grin, referencing a popular acronym circulating through political circles. “He can’t touch us. We’ve done nothing wrong. The truth is, it’s Donald Trump who’s violating the Constitution, breaking the law. We’re taking him to court—and I believe we’re going to win.”
